HFCS – What Is It?

I thought I’d share with you…

The “Secret” fattening agent found in all kinds of foods!

It’s High Fructose Corn Syrup (or HFCS for short).

If you’ve noticed lately on TV and in some magazines, the Corn Refiners Association is touting HFCS as a healthy alternative to sugar and that it’s ok in “moderation.” Funny thing is, it’s found in most of the food we eat (Of course, none of us eat processed foods, so we don’t have to worry about it, right J )

Obviously, there’s been a lot of hoopla from nutritionists about the dangers of HFCS and so this is the rebuttal from the refiners, I suppose. Anyway, is it worse than sugar (sucrose)….my opinion, no.  Is it something you should be aware of, yes.

HFCS is found in most processed foods and it impacts your bodies ability to manage insulin quite substantially.  BUT, so does plain old table sugar. My point is this….stay away from processed foods and you won’t have to worry about it. Keep the junk out of your kids mouths and they will be healthier because of it.  Kids foods are laced with this stuff.

Look on any food label and you’ll see any number of ingredients with a very high % that fructose, corn syrup, corn syrup solids, high fructose corn syrup, etc will be one of the first ingredients on the label.

Here’s the deal…..eat foods that don’t have packaging.  Simple as that.  BUT not easy, I know. It takes planning, like I’ve talked about before.

Fruits, vegetables, lean meats, eggs, nuts, seeds, spices, herbs, some dairy, some whole grains and lots of water.  Sounds pretty healthy, right? That’s because it is.  Our bodies weren’t meant to ingest and digest foods that have been “Made.”

Good ol’ Mother Nature gave us all we need to survive and THRIVE on, so it’s up to you to put it into practice.  The quick start manual I gave you when you registered includes foods you were meant to eat.  You won’t find machine made foods in there and that’s why it works so well. 

Get back to how we, as humans, were supposed to eat prior to these huge food manufacturing conglomerates leading us to believe “their” food was actually that…..FOOD.  It’s not!
